Following a tattoo on a girl's shoulder, the hacker Neo discovers that so-called "reality" is just an electrical impulse fed to human brains by an artificial intelligence. To survive the catastrophe, humanity actually needed the machines, but they won and now need humans as an energy source. The illusion in which they live them is therefore intended to "farm" them better. No one is aware of the time that has passed since the neurosimulator assigned a fictional date to time. Only Neo, with the help of hacker Morpheus and the beautiful Trinity, can attempt to uncover the truth, but it will not be an easy undertaking.
